dilemmas of loving the world (a found poem with the words of Dr. Wicoff MD)

The generation of today’s society

--- there seem to be more extremes --

both good and bad,

less of an accepted norm,

we see humans,

but no humanity,

fed by a deluge of information and misinformation,

we are blind to whose rights are more important--

Ours?

Or everyone else’s?

Perturbed by the world,

we look around

and see inequality everywhere,

we wonder about the rights of those less equal individuals,

we assume everyone has found the happiness

they’ve been pretending to have.

But lately the world is full of empty people,

responsible for everyone

but themselves.

These are all symptoms of a common disease known as being human.

We would fight, and kill for each other,

but in the end,

scared to be bound to one another,

because what a treacherous thing to believe

that a person is more than just a person,

all while knowing how terrible it is to

love something

Death

can

touch.
