connections of humankind

Black,

this color reflects the burden we all carry,

whether to care and react,

or whether to watch and stay silent.

It creates a sudden expectation

that decisions have been made and unmade,

but in reality black is the only color

that creates mystery,

the only color that says

“yes” and “no”.

Black paints a beginning,

and an end,

it hides any suspicion of opposing opinions

or status.

It will remain there time and time again,

never anything more,

never anything less,

revealing the only tangible thing it has,

Itself.

Blue,

another burden we all carry,

the burden of compassion and humanity,

blue is the side effect of having a bruised soul.

It’s the silent confession of a personal conflict

within the mind,

betraying one’s affirmation of indifference--

A disease that eats you from the inside out

until you’re only a shell.

no heart,

no thinking,

no emotions,

just a skin that walks around all day,

hurting--

Blue is proof that we love people so much,

so much that we have to be numb to it,

because if we actually felt how much we really love them,

it would kill us.

Red,

a burden only some of us carry,

people with this concern

easily recognize one another,

while the world speaks with words,

they look with feelings,

reminiscing on how they once felt,

because those who are heartless,

once cared too much.

We are all delightfully chaotic;

a beautiful mess,

wanting only for someone to care enough

to feel responsible.
